There are two ways you can be notified about our upcoming hikes:

Ithaca Hikers is nonjudgmental. Everyone is welcome to hike with us, provided:

  • You’re comfortable hiking in a group.
  • You’re able to keep up. (This is crucial. If you fall behind, you could get lost.)

You should be able to:

  • Walk a mile in 20 minutes.
  • Walk four miles in two hours over rough terrain.
  • Walk up Buffalo Street from Aurora to Eddy without stopping.

And feel free to join us on our Facebook page. Content on this page is intended to keep former and current Ithaca Hikers in touch with each other and the group, to post hiking-related content that doesn’t make it into the weekly hike report, etc. Please refrain from posting inappropriate content on the Facebook page.

Facebook posts do NOT include information about upcoming hikes or hike times and locations, for the safety of our hikers. If you’re looking to hike with us, you can get that information via Meetup or our Google Group.

Ithaca Hikers is an informal group of people who for more than a few years now have decided to voluntarily get together several times a week for the purpose of hiking or joining in outside social events. There is no official leadership hierarchy in the group; we are not a formal non-profit organization; we have no executive board or similar non-profit organizational structure. There are a number of members of the group who have agreed to lead group hikes. Any member of the group can volunteer to organize and lead a hike of their choosing (with some proper coordination with other hikers to avoid scheduling conflicts). Anyone wishing to join the group on our hikes does so with the understanding that they assume all liability in making their choice to join in group activities.
