Camp Barton, Trumansburg
Camp Barton is a longtime Boy Scout camp located on Frontenac Rd., just across the county line on state Route 89. The camp was recently put up for sale by the Scouts and is now available (with some prehike arrangements made with camp caretaker personnel) to our group for hikes.
The camp has several unblazed hiking trails and unpaved service roads that traverse the hillside above the administrative buildings between Frontenac and South Frontenac Roads to just below Route 89. The trails that run along the north side of the property line and overlook the several waterfalls near Frontenac Road are particularly enjoyable.
Google Maps pin here. To get to the camp, point your GPS app to 9640 Frontenac Road in Trumansburg. Drive through the metal arch and park near the administrative building.
